WKoF initiative: Kitchen Table Economics

From health care costs to gasoline prices, the housing slump, the credit crunch and hurricane insurance, Florida families are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet. What do you think are the toughest issues facing Florida's households?  What can the state do to strengthen the middle class and help the working poor? Policy changes? Public-private partnerships?

Health Care

More health care professionals are needed:

  1.  Office Hours 4 pm until 1000 pm to avoid emergency room costs Not urgent care but primary care
  2.  PA or RNP to work at pharmacies for routine care.eg  $125  for a doctor visit to find out  you have a strep infection  which is determined by  a test.    Childlren's ear infections.  UTI's are determined by a test.  

3.  More busses are needed to go to neighborhoods for screenings.  One shouldn't have to pay a doctor125 dollars for this.
4.  The medical services for those receiving universal health care" could be staffed by  professionals paid a flat salary so that they cannot find ways to embezzle from the governement.
